On the 5th of March 1750 a ship was found a the Playa de Poniente. In these times the people of Benidorm were frightened by the plague and set the ship on fire to make sure there was nothing on board. Among the ashes they found a wooden statue of "Our Lady of Suffrage".
Today what is burned in Benidorm are satirical statues of famous people. In Benidorm you can find three different Fallas: Falla el Centro, Falla El Rincón and Falla Els Tolls. These Fallas are distributed over three different areas. The festival includes processions, street entertainment and amazing fireworks. This year the Fallas will begin on the 16th of March and finish in the 19th with the "cremà". All the Fallas will be burned in the "cremà" without the one who won.
